A popular picnic spot around the city, Balsamand Lake is an artificial lake, which was made as a water reservoir in the year 1159, to provide water to the people of Jodhpur. Placed on the Jodhpur-Mandore Road, it is around 7 km from Jodhpur. The lake is nestled amidst 300 acres of lush garden with plenty of flora or tress of plum, guava, mango etc. and beautiful birds like peacock. The lake is 15 m deep and 50 m in breadth. The lake also offers a view of nearby palaces.
